The “Star” in the SMI * 39 is part of the SMI marking, who made the clips as well as the ammo There are 18-rounds per cardboard box with three clips.
If you want to shoot your Model 38, this is just about the only military surplus production era ammo available. This ammo was only made for a little less than THREE YEARS(LATE 1938. TO MID-1940)
